The Problem
From March 2020 to February 2021, there were nearly 3,800 hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders nationwide. This data offers proof of the size and scope of the tragedy that is anti-Asian racism and xenophobia in the United States. These incidents are not new – they have occurred throughout our history, From the Chinese Exclusion Act, to the unfair treatment of Chinese workers during the Transcontinental Railroad and Sonoma Valley’s wine country, to the killing of Vincent Chin and more.
Our Food Fix
Be the change you wish to see in the world. This is what inspired the start of Local Roots in 2011 and continues to inspire our work and lives. This does not stop at healing the food system. It also means standing up for equality. As an Asian American-founded company, we do not tolerate racism or bigotry. We stand with the AAPI community and BIPOC community at large. This is why we've partnered with Heart of Dinner to support their ongoing effort to feed and uplift at-risk Asian elders in NYC.
