Commercially farmed sheep are raised in crowded, confined environments, with the majority of US farms keeping them in flocks of over 1,000 or more. Because US consumers prefer meat from lambs, more than 90% of these sheep are killed when they are between 6 and 8 months old. Within a few weeks of birth, most sheep have their tails cut off, a painful mutilation that can lead to harmful health conditions.
We source our lamb meat from sheep farmers that care about the well-being and happiness of their sheep flock. They're pasture-raised and raised to display natural animal behavior. Because sheep have the ability to experience emotions such as fear, boredom and happiness, their quality of life really does have an impact on the quality of their meat.
Local Roots meat is handled with care and you can taste it. There are no preservatives, nitrates or funky chemicals. It's super fresh.
