The Problem
The majority of commercial oat milks you'll see in the grocery store use emulsifiers and pasteurization to extend the shelf-life of their product. They're designed to sit in un-refrigerated warehouses, move in un-refrigerated trucks as they travel across the country, and sit on grocery shelves for up to 2 years (yuck!). Not to mention, there's an oat shortage in US due to drought in the Northwest & Canada. So not only is commercial oat milk full of icky additives, it's actively contributing to environmental and food shortage problems in this country.
Our Food Fix
Nuthatch is proud to craft only the freshest product and never uses pasteurization, preservatives, or additives. Their oat milk is meant to be consumed fresh, and not to last forever. They also only use sustainably grown oats from the Northeast, so they're not adding to the problems surrounding drought and food shortage in this country. Additionally, they're committed to minimizing their environmental impact in their use of reusable delivery bags, glass bottles, and upcycled products! So much to love.
