How Do Subscriptions Work?

This gouda is unlike any you've tasted before– produced in NY state by an Amish couple, this farmstead cheese is made with raw cow's milk in a traditional Dutch fashion. The wheels are rubbed with buttercream, allowing them to breathe as they age for a minimum of 6 months. The result? A dense, crystalline texture and a nutty, toasted, caramel flavor profile. Pair with your favorite cracker and cured meats or eat on it's own– it's THAT good!

The Problem

Mass-produced, processed cheese is almost not cheese at all. Nearly half of it is cut with salt, food dyes, preservatives, emulsifiers, and other artificial ingredients to extend its shelf-life, change its texture, and significantly cut its cost. These ingredients are what cause most grocery store cheddars to be dry, rubbery, and more suitable to melting. On top of that, the milk often comes from factory farms, where dairy cows are mistreated and given growth hormones to increase milk production, which ultimately requires higher levels of antibiotics.


Our Food Fix

Jake's Gouda handcrafts their cheese with high quality milk from their own 200-acre dairy farm in Deansboro, New York. They don't use any high temp pastuerization and follow a traditional Dutch method of cheesemaking. The cheese is turned daily as it ages on pine planks to ensure uniform aging. Talk about dedication to perfection!
